The following are the best tips and practices for getting your film to stay in the Facebook algorithm for as long as possible. See the images to the right for a step-by-step visual guide on how to execute each step below.
Tip #1 Upload your film to your personal page on FB. Do not place a hyperlink in from YouTube or anywhere else. Facebook will supress any posts with external links in them. If you have to post a hyperlink make sure to only put it in the Comment section, never in the main post.
Be sure to write 2-4 sentences about the film before posting.
Tag any people or businesses that appear in the film.
Tip #2 Have as many people as possible share the film from your personal page. You will need to create a street team of people to help you with this at first. In time, this will start to happen organically.
Ask for comments underneath your post. See STEP 1 in the column on the right.
Be sure to ask them to share it on their personal FB page and to write a sentence or 2 in the post they are sharing: FB prompts you to "Say something about this post." This is an important step. FB will not put their shared post in front of as many eyes if they don’t write a sentence 2 in their shared post. See STEP 2 and STEP 3 in the column on the right.
Try your best to have everybody share and comment at the same time, or at least within the same hour to maximize the FB algorithm.
Remember to respond to all of the comments. The algorithm works on engagement so the more engagement you get means that FB will push your post to the top of the feed and keep it there. See STEP 4 in the column on the right.
Tip #3 Upload to all other media platforms you wish to engage in.
FB business page is the new yellow pages. If you decide to boost a post do it from here.
Youtube is the second most searched platform on the internet. If you do not have a page please create one.
Linkedin & Twitter is where you can use a hyperlink to share your film.
Add #hashtags & keywords in all platforms for better searchability.
Instagram allows 30 hashtags.
Best practices for all other platforms is no more than 5 to 7 hashtags.
